Who We Are: A Brief History of FSA

FSA logoJennifer Bausman and Annette Bruce founded the Florida Storytelling Association as the Florida Storytellers Guild in 1985.

The primary event sponsored by the organization is the annual StoryCamp, where storytellers from across the United States are invited to work side by side with Florida tellers in a superior workshop and concert venue attended by hundreds from around the world.

Since its inception, FSA has fostered the growth and development of storytellers and storytelling in Florida by promoting and providing educational and performance opportunities throughout the state.

The FSA Board of Directors upholds a strong tradition of nurturing the art of storytelling. FSA provides artistic and fiscal patronage to many local Florida storytelling StoryGroups, and advocates storytelling as a valuable component of skill mastery and learning in schools.

FSA supports educational Gatherings in all regions, and offers grants to local affiliates producing area storytelling festivals and concerts.

Each year, FSA is also proud to support the National Storytelling Network by sponsoring an event at the National Storytelling Conference.

The Florida Storytelling Association (FSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
